Historical NotesThis Army issued duffel bag was used by Alice Nestor. Aliquippa native Alice Ambrose (Nestor) enlisted in the Army at the age of 18 after graduating from Hopewell High School in 1972. After basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama she was stationed in Fort Sam, Houston where she trained as a dental assistant. She was honorably discharged from the Meddac Unit 18 Airborne Corp in 1974 and returned to Aliquippa where she became one of the first group of women who worked on the floor at J&L in Aliquippa. She worked in the Seamless Tube department that produced the Alaska pipeline. She retired from the mill in 1979 to take a job with the United States Post Office in Warrendale.
