Historical NotesThis tray belonged to The Most Reverend Stephen H. Kocisko a local Byzantine Catholic prelate. It was crafted by the Wendell August Forge for an event on October 24-25, 1981 honoring Kocisko, the Metropolitan Archbishop, as an Exemplar of Faith. Kocisko, a Minneapolis native, was ordained in Pittsburgh in 1956 and served the Holy Ghost parish on Pittsburgh’s North Side. He became the first Archbishop of the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church in Pittsburgh in 1969. He became a leading figure in the Catholic church on Eastern Catholic theology and worked to restore this tradition as an integral part of Catholicism. He resigned from his position in 1990 and passed away in 1995.
