DescriptionFour wheeled horse drawn sulky. Light wood and black metal frame with red stripe accent. Wood seat box painted black with removable seat cushion and backrest upholstered in dark green fabric. Floor of front portion is line with black rubber anti-skid material. Floor of portion and seat are caned. Front has a small cylinder for storing a whip. "Foot step" on either side. Four metal wheels with metals spokes and black rubber tires. Detached shaft is made of light wood with black/red stripe accent to match frame of sulky. Black painted metal hardware.Dimensionsa) 61"L x W 49"x 56.5"H b) 92" Lx 37" W x 10" H

Historical NotesIn 1916 Mary McCune used this sulky to set a world's record of 2:04 1/2 with her horse Magnolia at Brunot's Island track in Pittsburgh. She was 16 years old at the time. She was 16 years old. She was inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 1966. The "Perren Speed Wagon" was made by Abraham E. Perren, a carriage and sleigh maker in Buffalo, NY. It was patented in 1893.
