Historical NotesThis Pittsburgh centennial souvenir pin given as a gift to History Center CEO Andy Masich to wear in 2016 during Pittsburgh’s celebration of the bicentennial of the founding of the city in 1816. The centennial for the founding/naming of Pittsburgh by General Forbes was celebrated in 1858, but the 1816 date marks the date the city was officially incorporated.
