Historical NotesJensen Steam Engine, a miniature steam engine modeled on early 1900s steam engines, the model consists of whistle, throttle valve, power take-off pulley, and reversing lever. Each engine is made by hand in Jeannette, PA, by the Jensen Manufacturing Company, Inc., on 700 Arlington Avenue. The company was established in 1932, by Tom Jensen, a Danish immigrant who came to the United States for engineering work. He created some model steam engines in his spare time that were seen by a buyer from F. A. O. Schwartz who ordered some. Because of the interest in his engines he started the Jensen Manufacturing Company in 1932. After Tom Sr.’s death in 1992, his son Tom Jr. continued the business which is still in operation. The donor developed an interest in the company and bought this model in 2015, it is a Dry Fuel Fired Steam Engine Style #75. He decided to upgrade and donate his older model to the History Center.
