Historical NotesPittsburgh Police jacket that belonged to the donor. Malloy joined the force in 1966. At that time they had to buy their own uniforms and equipment. The uniforms were available at Gimbels department store. Malloy bought this jacket in 1966 for $98. He started his street beat on Christmas Eve of that year out of Station #6, which at that time was in Squirrel Hill. Malloy retired in 2004 as a Sergeant. The Rules and Regulations booklet is from 1933 and was given to Malloy (L&A). He said that prior to 1976 when the Fraternal Order of Police and the City of Pittsburgh signed a formal contact that there was no agreement between the police and the city and the Rules book was all they had.
