Historical NotesThe embossing seal is from the Hebrew Kosher Butcher's Association of Pittsburgh. This tool was used by Saul Kronzek, a secretary of the Association and proprietor of Kronzek's Kosher Meat Market in the East End. Kronzek worked as a kosher butcher beginning in the 1930s and was an early member of the Hebrew Butcher Workers Union of Pittsburgh, founded in 1939. The embosser complements a previous gift from the same donor of a butcher's knife used at Kronzek's Kosher Meat Market (see #2005.90).
