Historical Notes1982 Allegheny County Marble Tournament first place trophy. Part of a collection of t-shirts, hat, trophies, marbles, crown, and patch from marble champion Greg Yakich. All objects document Greg Yakich marble playing that started in 1981 and ended in 1984, when he won the National Championship at age 14, which is also the last year you can play. Greg and many members of his family were trained by Walter Lease, the Managing Director of Leslie Park in Lawrenceville. They trained in the pool and because they were able to train all year, many marble champs came out of Lawrenceville, and most were also related to Greg. The Heinz History Center has other marble collections documenting this same family.
