Historical NotesPart of a collection of items excavated from Dunbar’s Camp. Most of the artifacts are remnants of the retreat of the Braddock Expedition of 1755. After Braddock’s forces were defeated by the French and Native Americans near Fort Duquesne, they retreated back to Colonel Dunbar’s camp a few miles away. Dunbar ordered most of the supplies and wagons to be destroyed so they would not be taken by the French.
