Historical NotesA Westerman-Jensen needle kit for bone marrow biopsies invented by doctors in Pittsburgh. Part of a collection of items related to Murray Sachs' (the donor's) training and career in medicine, as well as objects collected by the donor and displayed in his office at Shadyside Hospital. These objects document the donor's personal life, his career in medicine, Pittsburgh's health care history, and also the doctor's personal collection of medical artifacts. Wallace N. Jensen, MD, MACP, helped to develop the Westerman-Jensen needle for bone marrow biopsies. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine was one of the many medical institutions in which he taught.
