DescriptionYellowing campaign ribbon and display frame. Ribbon: Near center, black sketched image of Lincoln facing left. Text below image. Frame: Black frame with yellowing cardstock meant to hold the ribbon in place for display. Black text printed along the bottom section of the matting. Cardboard back of frame. There is a slip of paper attached to the back of the frame containing typed text, and there is handwritten text in lower section of frame.DimensionsHeight x Width: 7.688 × 3.125 in. (19.5 × 7.9 cm)
InscriptionsFrom top-down, ribbon reads "PEOPLE'S / CITY COMMITTEE / OF/ SUPERINTENDENCE. / LINCOLN, HAMLIN, / AND / CURTIN." In between "People's" and "City Committee" is an image of Lincoln facing left. "WORN BY / ROBERT C. HICKS. / NOV. 6. 1860. On the front of Part a, "WORN BY / ROBERT C. HICKS. NOV. 6. 1860" is written at the bottom of the frame. On the back of Part b, there are two notes indicating provenance. One is typed and taped to the back, and reads "The attached ribbon was worn by Robert C. Hicks, who / lived in the 200 block of North 63rd Street and the / section was then known as Hadlington. / It is now the property of his Great Great Grandson / Jere F. Neal Jr. of 1309 Harrington Road. Havertown, Penna. / Needless to say the family have been Republican all / down the line to the present day." The note handwritten in ink is at the bottom of the frame and reads: "Property of / Jere F. Neal Jr. / 1309 Harrtington Rd. / Havertown, Penna."
