DescriptionYellowing fabric vertical ribbon with black text. At the top there is an image of an eagle holding a banner in its beak. Text below, with vartiations of sizes of the text. Under this is the coat of arms of Pennsylvania. Below the coat of arms is a piece of fabric adhered separately; it features black text and deliberately covers a section of text on ribbon.DimensionsHeight x Width: 5.313 × 2.938 in. (13.5 × 7.5 cm)
InscriptionsAt the top, there is an image of an eagle holding a banner that reads "DEMOCRACY." Under this reads "POLK"; the "p" and "l" are a smaller font than the "o" and "k". Below this reads "THE YOUNG HICKORY, / DALLAS, AND VICTORY." Under this is the coat of arms of Pennsylvania, and below the coat of arms is a piece of fabric that reads "F. R. Shunk" and covers the name "Muhlenberg", which is visible from the back. This small piece of fabric has been glued onto the ribbon and was apparently done so after Muhlenberg, the gubernatorial candidate of Pennsylvania, died and Shunk replaced him. Beneath the piece of fabric is the word "AND", and under this reads "Hartshorne.
