Historical NotesPatch commemorating the 75th season of the Pittsburgh Steelers professional football team, which began in 1933. Each player wore this type of patch on his jersey during the 2007 season. The fifth-oldest franchise in the NFL, the Steelers were founded on July 8, 1933, by Arthur Joseph Rooney, and were originally named the Pittsburgh Pirates. Over the decades, they have won five Super Bowls.
