DescriptionOff-white, sheer, cotton collar with a round opening in the top and lace trim around the bottom edge. Rounded shape in the front that comes to a slightly lower rounded point in the back. Horizontal design that consists of thin bands of small holes with sheer fabric in between them. The widest band in the center has an white embroidered design of horizontal rows of wavy lines with a circle at each end of the waves. Floral motif throughout the edge of the lace at the bottom.Dimensions26.25 x 13.5 in. (66.7 x 34.3 cm)
Historical NotesLace capelet that belonged to Ailsa Mellon, daughter of Andrew Mellon. Donor Tribly Busch's great aunt Helen Edwards Fisher Hunt’s mother was good friends with Emma and Cora Abernathy who were Ailsa’s nursemaids.
