Historical NotesThis casual jacket was worn by donor Mary Jeanne Flaherty while she served at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea (2-1974 to 6-1974). Ms. Flaherty at that time held the rank of captain (USAF), and served as commander of the 3rd security police squadron at Kunsan. Ms. Flaherty’s career covered over 27 years until her retirement in 1997. In 1974, she was sent to South Korea and was one of the first female line officers ever assigned to a remote area. As Base Communications Manager in Pittsburgh, she directed the supply of communications gear for the 171st which was deployed in Saudi Arabia (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) from 1990 through 1991.
