Historical NotesBowling shirt from the B’nai B’rith Lodge bowling league in New Castle, PA. The shirt was worn by the donor Sybil Epstein's husband, Art Epstein, and is marked Jewish Men’s Bowling League. The synagogue sponsored the league for many years. Men and women bowled separately until the league became too small and they merged. The league played at 9:00 PM on Thursday nights after business closed. Thursday was apparently a night when businesses stayed open later. The league ceased in the late 1970s.
