Historical NotesEmpty plastic portable Holy Water vial used by Father Joseph McCaffrey to administer mass and Holy Communion service following Crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, September 11, 2001.Label TextAs one of the official chaplains of the FBI Pittsburgh Division, Father Joseph McCaffrey rushed to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on the afternoon of September 11, 2001 in order to provide spiritual and emotional support to FBI agents and personnel working at the Flight 93 crash site. He was also asked to counsel the families of the victims as they began to arrive in Shanksville. Several days after the crash, McCaffrey was called upon the hold a mass and Holy Communion service for all of the families at nearby Seven Springs resport. He used this Holy Water vial for the service.
