Historical NotesMedal that belonged to Harvey Adams a former Pittsburgh Police officer and chief of the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh who became president of the Pittsburgh NAACP. He served the Pittsburgh Police from 1955 to 1975 and founded the Guardians as an African American police officer group to oversee equal rights in the police department. He served the Housing Department from 1982 to 1994; and the NAACP from 1976 to 1992.
