Historical NotesThis rug was woven by Marianne Strengell, who was asked by Alcoa to produce something using aluminum fibers. Marianne Strengell wove it at the Cranbrook Academy, Bloomfield Hills, MI.Label TextIn 1957, Alcoa asked Marianne Strengell to produce something using aluminum fibers and she hand-wove this rug for the company. It consists of multi-colored aluminum, black and gray wool, and viscose, and was used in the Alcoa Forecast Program in the late 1950s.
