Historical NotesLimited edition of Mitchell Paige as a G.I. Joe figure. One of the first five Mitchell Paige G.I. Joe dolls to be produced. Designed by donor Kurt Groen. Mitchell Paige was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, in 1918, and joined the Marines at the age of 18. He fought in WWII and was involved in the invasion of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Paige is remembered for winning a race with the enemy to get to an unmanned machine gun, and helping to secure the area. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on May 21, 1943.
