DescriptionTall, two-door wardrobe; "breakdown" construction, held together with metal brackets and wooden pins and wedges; facing members are walnut or walnut veneer. The bulk of the case is built from pine planking; top of bureau features a simple crown moulding, edges of the piece are bevelled. Two drawers at base of cabinet, fitted with drop pulls, one of which is missing. Breaks down into approximately twelve (12) pieces.Dimensions83 x 58.5 x 22 in. (210.8 x 148.6 x 55.9 cm)
Historical NotesPurportedly from the room used by Abraham Lincoln during his stay at the Monongahela House hotel in 1861. Following the demolition of the Monongahela House, it was acquired by Allegheny County and displayed in a "museum" at South Park in the 1930's. This piece, along with other furniture, was rediscovered at South Park.
