Historical NotesThe Professional Disc Golf Association was founded in 1995 and has rapidly grown in popularity over the past 20 years. In 2015, Pittsburgh hosted the world championships at a number of regional courses. Slippery Rock University provided one of the championship courses. As part of the events, the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society held a fundraiser for the ALS Association of Western Pennsylvania. These three discs represent the growth of the sport’s popularity and the role that this region has played in supporting the sport and its athletes through the investment in courses and organized competition.
