This disc, along with the two other disc golf-related objects in the collection, represent the variety of events offered within disc golf in Western Pennsylvania. In 2015, the world championships were hosted in Pittsburgh at a number of regional courses. A carved wooden trophy in the shape of a disc for the Longest Drive/1st Place Men Sr. Legend award is included among the discs and was part of the world championships. Other popular disc golf events are the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open for amateurs. These three discs represent the growth of the sport’s popularity and the support and interest it has found regionally.
