(106 x 20.3 x 21 cm)Historical NotesThe donor refers to this item as a "Texas Bud Vase." It may be a one-of-a kind item made for a special occasion. Donor states that the vessel originated with a molded punch bowl "blank" which was then swung on a punty to elongate the "neck."Label TextKnown affectionately as a “Texas bud vase,” this swung glass vase illustrates the skill and artistry of regional glassworkers. Workers made these vases by blowing large molded punch bowls and then swinging the glass to elongate it. It required strength both to blow the piece and then to handle and work the hot glass. Mount Pleasant, Pa., L.E. Smith Glass Co., colorless glass, blown molded and pulled or swung to elongate.
