Historical NotesHarmarville Hurricanes championship jacket. John F. Prucnal played for the Harmarville Hurricanes from 1946 to 1958. The Hurricanes were a popular local soccer team who played for crowds of 10,000 on Sunday games and were part of the United States Soccer Football Association. The team toured the country and world playing soccer starting in 1946. They won the U.S. National Open soccer championship in 1952 and 1956. The late 1940s and early 1950s were a time period when Pittsburgh soccer teams dominated the national soccer scene.
