Historical NotesMargaret McMillen Garwood obtained a degree from Wilson College in the early 1900s. Margaret was a social worker and worked at community centers in Lawrenceville and the Hill District and also served in the Red Cross. Her husband, Clyde Garwood, became principal of Homewood Schools in 1909 and Associated Superintendent of North Side Pittsburgh in 1914. From December 1919 to June of 1920, the Garwoods lived in Paris because he was appointed European Director of the Junior American Red Cross.
