Historical NotesBusiness sign featuring A.E. Masten & Company. Founded in 1891, A.E. Masten & Company reorganized in 1893, and became a leading brokerage firm during the turn of the twentieth century. Eventually, it became a part of Legg Mason and is now a part of Smith Barney, a division of Citibank. Donor Richard J. Scarton worked as a manager at the firm.
