DescriptionMiniature bust portrait of mature woman wearing bluish-purple dress with lace appointments, pearl earrings and necklace. Housed in metal oval frame with glass front. Cream colored cloth on back with paper inscription. Frame has hook with rounded knob at top. Dimensions(a) Height 4.5, Length 3.125(b) Length 6.5, Width 4.938, Depth 0.25.
MarksText on paper on back, in script: "The late Mrs. Schenley / 1903 / Painted by her daughter / H. Agnes Ridley / 1908".
Historical NotesA miniature of Mary Croghan Schenley painted by her daughter, H. Agnes Ridley. Donated to the Carnegie Institute by Mrs. Alberta McLean in 1939, and transferred to the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania in 1994.
