Dickson was a relative of President James Buchanan and the step-great-grandfather of the donor.Label TextAfter the wool is spun it can be wound onto a reel which also measured the yarn as it was wound---a popping sound would occur after a specific number of turns. The yarn would be removed from the reel and twisted into a skein.
