DescriptionReconstruction of a Studebaker Company heavy freight wagon, painted in H.J. Heinz Company livery. Red cargo box with green and white text around outside. Four wheels, the two in back being larger that the front. Bed is topped by an assemblage of reconstructed crates, labelled to resemble "old-time" Heinz products. Driver's platform features leather-covered seat pad, footboard assembly with modern brake pedal. Two battery-operated coach lamps.Dimensions103.5 x 85 x 175 in. Historical NotesReconstruction based on a 19th century Studebaker wagon, discovered in Central Pennsylvania by John Dryer, c. 1979. The "Heinz Hitch" program began in 1983; it appears that little, if any, of the vehicle is original, save perhaps some metalwork. The present paint job appears to date to the late 1990s. The wagon was drawn by a team of up to eight horses; no harness or tongue was supplied with the vehicle
