Historical NotesA Senator John Heinz History Center, "Medal of Innovation," awarded to Herb Simon on April 4, 2008. Simon passed away in 2001, so the medal was accepted by his daughter Katherine Simon Frank. Simon, a noted economics professor at Carnegie Mellon University, was the 1978 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economics for, according to the Swedish Academy of Sciences, his "pioneering research into the decision making process within economic organizations."
