Historical NotesThis costume was owned and worn by the donor, Carol Braun Kunz, who was born July 27, 1940. It was worn in a tap dance recital in 1944 or 1945 to the song "I'm a Little Tea Pot". According to the donor, "My parents enrolled me in tap dancing class whenever I was four years old. They wanted me to be around other children. There were only adults at home. The classes were given in a West View High School classroom. (West View High School, after the jointure that became the North Hills School District, was a Junior High and currently is an Elementary School). It was Bob Kite's Dance School, however, my teacher was Mary Jane Tachitoff. There was always a piano player present for our practice. The Recital, was in the West View High School Auditorium." The donor's mother, Kathryn Braun, painted the flowers on the costume. Part of a collection that documents the life of Carol Braun Kunz including dance costumes from when she was a child and took tap dance lessons at West View high school. Bob Kite ran the studio and Mary Jane Tachitoff was his assistant.
