DescriptionSilver, metal pedestal water fountain. Round basin resembles a flower with scalloped petals. Chrome push button faucet. Drains down center column that is scalloped with V-shaped frond accents under the basin. Round black base.Dimensions39.25 x 15 in. (99.7 x 38.1 cm)Historical NotesThis water fountain was designed by Benno Janssen, a Pittsburgh architect who also enlarged the Kaufmann's Department Store in 1913 and later designed Edgar J. Kaufmann's Fox Chapel house. The fountain is from Janssen's art deco interior remodeling of the store which opened in April of 1930. Part of a collection of artifacts that document the downtown location of Kaufmann’s (became Macy’s) department store. This large collection of items was field gathered from the downtown location of Macy’s (formerly Kaufmann’s) after the store’s final closing was announced in the fall of 2015.
