Historical NotesWool suit made by donor Judith Stein's grandmother for her mother before she emigrated from Germany. Donor's father Mordecai Heiser was the music director at the B'nai Israel Congregation for almost 50 years. The temple on Pittsburgh's Negley Avenue was founded in 1911. Heiser became known throughout the city for his singing voice. As well as being a cantor, Heiser served as a mohel (ritual circumciser).
