Historical NotesThis badge supporting the 1920 Republican candidates--Warren G. Harding for President, Calvin Coolidge for Vice President, and Boies Penrose for U.S. Senator--highlights "Women's First Vote". After ratification of the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920, the Presidential election that November was the first election in which women across the country could vote. The gold ribbon on the badge was also likely a nod to one of the suffrage movement's symbolic colors.
