This mutual aid society was organized and incorporated in 1908, by Italian immigrants from the town of Ripacandida in the region of Basilicata, which is a small farming community. Named in honor of their patron saint of their hometown in Italy, the San Donato Mutual Beneficial Association was created to provide its members some assistance when illness or death of a member occurred and to provide a gathering place for its members.
