Historical Notesrecovered from Fort Pitt Foundry site field gathered from construction site opposite History Center; while this brick was not recovered as part of an archaeological excavation, it seems likely that it was associated with a furnace or stack structure at the Fort Pitt Foundry (1842-1878); the Walker firm operated a brickyard in Wellsville, Ohio beginning c.1853, in the Ohio River pottery district;
