Historical NotesPart of a collection of clothing and accessories from donor Jean Woods' mother, Louise Irwin Woods and other family members including her great uncle and aunt Henrietta H. Ober and Everest D. Ober; her grandparents John Young Woods and his wife Myrtle Brinker Woods; and her great grandmother Margaret Eliza Grove (Irwin). All clothing is concentrated in the 1950s through 1970s with a few pieces from the early 1900s. Louise Irwin Woods who had an extensive clothing collection. This collection is primarily clothing from the 1950s and 1960s, mostly dresses and shoes, some of designer vintage. Louise Irwin Woods (1914-1999) grew up in the Ligonier area and was a graduate of Juniata College. She taught school until her marriage in 1934 to Carson B. Woods. Upon her husband's death in 1953, Louise began teaching elementary school again and also earned her Master's degree in archival studies from Duquesne University. She appreciated well-made clothing and had things ordered from New York, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh area tailors.
