BiographyEverett Meade Scott, Jr. was a veteran of World War I serving as a Corporal with the 543rd Engineers. He was born in Pittsburgh in 1892 and attended Pittsburgh schools up to the seventh grade. Scott’s parents Everett, Sr., and Louisa were born in Virginia and migrated to Pittsburgh sometime in the late 19th century. His father was a furniture maker, grocer, and laborer. He owned a store called Scott & Holmes that sold everything from live poultry, fish and oysters, butter and eggs, and hard and soft shell crabs.
