Paul J. McGeanAmerican, died 1991

Paul John McGean was born in Syracuse and studied fine arts at Syracuse College. He supposedly lived near and painted with Salvador Dali in New York City in the 1930s before moving to Pittsburgh in 1940 to become the Art Director of the Gardner Display Company, eventually moving up to an executive position. When he died in 1991, there were over 100 of his paintings in his studio, but he never attempted to sell them. In 2006, a gallery in Mt. Lebanon sold 28 of them and the rest are with family and friends.
