The Kingsley Association

BiographyThe shovel was used at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kingsley Association on September 19, 2002. The Kingsley Association was founded in 1893 under the name Kingsley House and as a settlement house for immigrant workers. Currently it is a non-profit organization that “inspire(s) and promote(s) [the] community growth as a physical anchor; social, wellness, and service program provider, as well as a thought leader.” The House was expanded in 1900 and was moved to the Monsooth mansion in the Hill District in Bedford and Fullerton. The mansion was a gift from H.C. Frick. The Kingsley House was changed to the Kingsley Association in 1917. The Association moved to Larimer after the Kingsley House facility was completed in 1923. Later in 2004, the Association was moved again to Frankstown Avenue near East Liberty Boulevard. The Kingsley Association once housed the Selma Burke Art Gallery.
