BiographyDelsey McKay was a jazz recording artist from Pittsburgh. She went to Duquesne university and then to the Juilliard School of Music where she studied music composition and theory. In 1974, McKay wrote the Bicentennial song titled “Sing, America, Sing!” which received a high degree of praise and gratitude from Americans, including the then President Ford. Her first public debut was with the Duke Ellington Orchestra at age 16 in Pittsburgh. Her career took her across Europe including the Four Tops Tour in Great Britain. She was also an honorary life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 6461, Broadcast Music Inc., and a one-time member of the African American Jazz Preservation Society.
