The Physio-Control Corporation was founded by Dr. Karl William Edmark in 1955 and was based in Redmond, Washington, specializing in cardiovascular emergency response devices. In 1980, Eli Lilly and Co. bought out the corporation, which then sold it to Bain Capital, Inc. after a brief production hiatus.
