Edward L. Wiegand

Edwin Wiegand founded his Pittsburgh company (Edwin L. Wiegand Company, now Chromalox,) in 1917, based on his 1915 patent for an insulated heating device. In the 1960s, his company developed a strip heater for the NASA’s Apollo program that kept the electronic control box on the Lunar Module’s at a temperature that insured the crucial fuel triggering device would function.
