BiographyThe riding boots were made by the Teitzel, Jones and Dehner Company. Teitzel, Jones and Dehner now known as the Dehner Company, was established in Junction City, Kansas in 1875 when Carlton C. Dehner became interested in the workmanship of John Teitzel’s boots. They formed a partnership and were later joined by Schuyler Jones when Teitzel and Dehner moved their business to Wichita, Kansas in 1914. Teitzel passed away in 1929 and this drove a wedge between the two business partners left. Dehner moved to Omaha with some of the factory workers and established his small business there after the split from Jones. The company became bigger and chnaged to the Dehner Company. Harold Ketzler, Dehner’s son in-law became the president of the company and was succeeded by his son Donovan Ketzler after his death in 1971. The riding boots once owned by Jefferson was part of the custom-made boots produced when the company was called the Teitzel, Jones and Dehner Company. The company during WWI became a popular supplier of military grade boots and was in high demand around the time due to the high-quality boots produced.
