Harry Vance “Chuck” Muncie (1953-2013) was a professional football player for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers in the NFL from 1976-1984. He was born in Uniontown, PA and played football and basketball in Uniontown High School before graduating in 1971. He received an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of California after playing for a year at Arizona Western College. In his senior year at the University of California, Muncie placed second for the 1975 Heisman Trophy that was won by Archie Griffin. Muncie was drafted and joined the New Orleans Saints in 1976 and was traded to the San Diego Chargers in 1980. The jerseys worn by Muncie in the football cards are Chargers jerseys. By the end of his career in 1984, he was a three-time Pro Bowl running back and had rushed for 6,702 yards and 71 touchdowns. After the end of his career Muncie established the nonprofit Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation in 1997 and became a mentor to athletes at the University of California. He died in 2013 after a heart attack.
