Cameo Doll Company was founded in 1922 by Joseph Kallus in New York. In 1932 the company moved to Port Allegheny in Northwestern PA. In 1970 the company moved to Chicago after being taken over by the Strombecker Corporation. Cameo dolls are known for being high quality. They are best known for their Kewpie dolls designed by illustrator Rose O’Neill.
