Historical NotesPowerboat racer's helmet worn by Chuck Young. Part of a collection that documents the championship powerboat racing career of Chuck Young. In 1956, Young began racing, first the family runabout, then the hydroplane that took him to a national Class A Pro championship in 1963. After racing for 40 years, Charles stopped in the mid-1990s and focused on collecting vintage boating equipment and supporting outboard organizations and events.
