Historical NotesThe pneumothorax machine from the Bedford Avenue TB Hospital (Tuberculosis Hospital of Pittsburgh located on Bedford Avenue in the Hill District). Part of a collection of items related to Murray Sachs' (the donor's) training and career in medicine, as well as objects collected by the donor and displayed in his office at Shadyside Hospital. These objects document the donor's personal life, his career in medicine, Pittsburgh's health care history, and also the doctor's personal collection of medical artifacts.
