(104.8 x 72.4 x 4.1 cm)Label TextSaint Sava, seen in this print blessing the children, is the founder and organizer of the native Serbian Orthodox Church. In the early thirteenth century, St. Sava, a monk, established the Serbian Orthodox Church. At this time, the region was under Turkish rule and the Serbs were not permitted to practice their language, religion or history. St. Sava started the Serbian school system. For that reason, he is the patron saint of schools and of children. Because he was instrumental in bringing Christianity and education to children, St. Sava is the “Slava,” or Holy Saint, for children
